This is a year long, group music project based on social consciousness/social justice. Each year students choose an issue that negatively affects their community and interprets it through music. While learning about the topic students explore its historical and legal backdrop. The goal of the project is to produce enough songs to complete a music CD by the end of the year.
Participation involves the following skills: researching, reading, analyzing, interpreting, discussing, writing, presenting and performing. Students will also have an opportunity to learn about audio engineering, song writing, and instrumentation along with mixing & mastering.
This project takes place in the music studio but sometimes involves going off campus.
