Update Sunday 3/15 to HSRA Students and Families: In response to Governor Walz announcement this morning on Minnesota School closures - HSRA will still be Staff Only in the building Monday, March 16 and Tuesday, March 17. However, as also stated, lunch will be provided from the school lobby from noon to 1pm. All events and activities will be cancelled.

Advisors will be reaching out to connect with all students to answer questions and discuss the plan for all Minnesota schools to be closed March 18th -27th. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you!

Dear High School for Recording Arts Students and Families,

In light of the recent situation with COVID-19 (Coronovirus) nationally and locally, HSRA will be staff only from Monday - Wednesday (3/16-18) of next week for staff to update our plans, build emergency distance learning curriculum and additional infrastructure to support our students in this unique moment. Like many organizations, we are staying abreast of the latest information and guidance as we remain agile and responsive to the needs and interests of our learners, our overall HSRA family, and our community.

Every day from 12pm-1pm students will be able to pick up bag lunches to take with them from the lobby of HSRA. Student access will be limited to the lobby to ensure that social distancing and other health precautions are taken to protect our students and their families. Students will also be given work to do from home and contacted by their teachers and advisors remotely. We will be calling each student and their families with a personal learning plan and advisement on how they can continue to work from home with emergency distance learning.

We encourage students who come in to get lunch, to observe the recommendations of the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) which recommends keeping a 6 foot distance from other people, limiting contact time with other people, and limiting exposure to those with high risk to COVID-19, mainly the elderly and people with sensitive respiratory systems. In particular, we encourage students to not gather in clusters on public transportation as they travel to and from school to get their lunch.

In this emerging situation we want to make sure you are connected with housing and mental health resources as well. If you are experiencing emergent housing needs, please contact Melinda @ 651-263-1944. You can also download the YSN MN app to your phone or go to their website : Shelter availability is listed in real time and there are many other resources you can seek there as well, such as outreach workers. If you are in distress and are seeking further support, please feel free to contact our social work team. Tabitha’s number (651-287-0895). Michael’s number (651-343-1435).

We are anticipating that our preparations for distance learning and other efforts will be complete by Wednesday. You should expect to be contacted by your advisor and/or teacher by Wednesday with school work and how to connect to our distance learning system. If you by the end of Wednesday, please reach out to your advisor or someone at the school.

In accordance with MDH’s most recent guidelines, it is advised to continue illness prevention measures, including regular handwashing, covering your cough, and avoiding touching your face as much as possible. Further guidance is also available by calling the MDH Hotline at 651-201-3920

We are all in a unique and unprecedented time. As always, your students’ health and wellness is our primary concern. As we continue to monitor this evolving situation, we will update you on decisions that are being made. Please check our Facebook Page / Instagram Page as we will update these in real time with the latest information.

As family is one of our key values, we appreciate all input and feedback from our community.
