A steady stream of new, prospective high school students, returning students, parents, siblings, and even toddlers filled the halls of HSRA at both Open Houses held, Friday, August 21, and Saturday, August 22, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
New students stood in awe as they sized-up the state-of-the-art music studios, met teachers and staff members for the very first time, and chomped on food provided by West Indies Soul Food, the catering company that also provides the year-round, school hot lunches.
“I had a wonderful time at the Open House,” gushed Notorious B., an HSRA returning student. “The cookies were great.”
Notorious’ friend, Ivory, age 21, and an HSRA graduate, said, “We got to see the staff members; eat, and even watch the little kids have a good time.”
When asked why he decided to attend the Open House, Ivory laughed and stated, “Shoot! Why not?! It’s an Open House and I get to eat before going into work!"
Dan Frey, HSRA Assistant Director of Student Engagement and Support, and this year’s Open House coordinator, proclaimed the entire day a success by saying, “We are getting new students in the door. This is a great opportunity to show them what it is we do. More and more, we are having to do less selling and letting the space and the people do the telling. I think this is the best Open House we’ve had.”
HSRA begins its school year, Monday, August 31, 2015. If you’re interested in attending HSRA, fill-out a registration form on this website, or call (651) 287-0890. Hope to see you here!
